Indonesia to Boost Commodity Exports from Kijing Terminal

President Joko Widodo inaugurated the Kijing Terminal at Pontianak Port, Mempawah Regency, West Kalimantan on Tuesday. The terminal is expected to improve the competitiveness of superior products from the region. "Here, our crude palm oil [CPO], alumina, bauxite, and other products are superior," Jokowi said.
Kijing Terminal has a container capacity of 500,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) and 8 million tons of non-container goods per year, which Jokowi claimed as the largest in Kalimantan. The total investment required to develop the terminal was Rp 2.9 trillion. Jokowi asked the terminal to be used optimally to strengthen competitiveness and improve inter-port, inter-island, and inter-country connectivity. In addition, the president also requested that the access road to and from the Pontianak Port be widened.
