Transportation Ministry Adopts New Strategy to Lower Airfares

low cost airlines
Summary

The government will not collect non-tax state revenue (PNBP) from aircraft landing, parking, and storage services (PJP4U). Airport operators (UPBU) will implement it from July 29 to December 31, 2022. According to the transportation ministry's acting director general of civil aviation Nur Isnin Istiartono, airlines will enjoy the zero rupiah rate for aircraft landing, placement, and storage services provided by the airport operators.

"This is the government's effort to boost the economic growth by providing relief for one component of aircraft operating costs," Nur Isnin said on Monday. The fee exemption applies to scheduled commercial airlines operating at airports managed by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation Unit, except for pioneering aircraft.
