The Indonesian government will launch a COVID-19 vaccine in collaboration with PT Bio Farma and United States-based Baylor College of Medicine on August 17, 2022. Bio Farma President Director Honesti Basyir said the "State-Owned Enterprises [SOE] vaccine" is undergoing phase III clinical trials run by the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM).

Bio Farma has submitted an emergency use authorization (EUA) to BPOM and completed an audit submission to verify the halal status to the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI). "The president has prepared a special name for the SOE COVID-19 vaccine, and Bio Farma is registering the name with the Directorate General of Intellectual Property Rights of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights," Honesti said Monday.
