FMCG Companies Starts Raising Prices to Cope with Inflation
Consumer goods producer PT Unilever Indonesia Tbk (UNVR) posted an increase in performance during the first half of 2022. Unilever's profit grew 12.6 percent to Rp 3.42 trillion as of June 2022 from Rp 3.04 trillion a year earlier. Based on the company's financial statement published on July 26, Unilever Indonesia's net sales reached Rp21.46 trillion in the first half, up 6.37 percent YoY from Rp 20.17 trillion a year earlier.
Unilever also reported an 11.97 percent increase in the cost of goods sold to Rp 11.11 trillion from Rp 9.92 trillion. "Facing this challenge, we have prepared a strategy to increase the selling price and a cost-saving program. This significantly impacts our ability to maintain profit,” Unilever Indonesia Director Enny Hartati Sampurno said last week.
