RNE Bill: Govt Allows IPP to Build Their Own Transmission Network

Summary

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) will submit a draft New Energy and Renewable Energy Bill (RNE Bill) to the House of Representatives. The government's version of the RNE Bill Draft states that the government will provide opportunities for independent power producers (IPPs) to build their transmission network specifically for electricity from new and renewable energy plants.

Director General of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation, Dadan Kusdiana, said the regulation made it easier for industrial areas to get electricity from renewable energy plants. This aligns with the government's desire to keep developing green industries. "The government will open opportunities for entrepreneurs to build their transmission network," Dadan said last weekend.
