Industry Players Want Power Wheeling for Renewables
The Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ministry has included the power wheeling scheme to boost the use of new and renewable energy in the government's version of the New and Renewable Energy Bill (RUU EBET). The Indonesian Geothermal Association (API) hopes the power wheeling scheme to distribute new and renewable energy will use open access. "It's not limited to distributing electricity to subsidiaries," API chair Priyandaru Effendi said to Kontan.co.id on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Institute for Essential Services Reform (IESR) executive director Fabby Tumiwa said the power wheeling scheme for new and renewable energy plants could answer the needs of industrial and commercial consumers in need of sustainable electricity. “In addition, renewable power wheeling can make renewable energy generation more attractive. It is positive to encourage renewable energy development outside PLN," he said.
