PLN, Hyundai Kefico to Build Electric Motorcycle Factory

PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) collaborated with Hyundai Kefico and Consortiums to build electric motorcycle manufacturing and battery exchange station infrastructure in Indonesia. The cooperation includes providing important aspects of electric vehicles such as propulsion engines, components, batteries, and service management. In the early stages, PLN, Hyundai Kefico and Consortiums designed the proper business model to accelerate the availability of two-wheeled electric vehicle infrastructure and components.
PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo ensured that the strategic plan PLN had agreed with Hyundai Kefico and Consortiums would soon be executed. Moreover, this cooperation will benefit both parties, especially the community, because they can get low-cost, good-quality, safe, and environmentally friendly electric vehicles. "The massive use of electric vehicles can reduce the burden of importing fuel oil so that it can improve our trade balance," he said Tuesday.
Vice President and CTO of Hyundai Kefico and Consortiums Park Seong Min said the company has also developed high-quality electric vehicle propulsion engines to support the program for converting fossil fuels to electric motors. "In this collaboration, Hyundai is determined to provide the best and most affordable spare parts for the Indonesian people," he said.
