Megawati Tries to Block Ganjar's Maneuver
Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri will let go of cadres trying to put themselves before the party ahead of the 2024 elections. She made it clear during the party's National Working Meeting (Rakernas) in Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta, on Tuesday. "PDI-P does not welcome those who double, triple cross, or make any maneuver," she said.
Megawati asserted that as the chairperson, she would dictate the presidential candidate from the PDI-P, not the other way around. Such authority is a congressional mandate and has been agreed upon by all cadres. She also reminded all PDI-P cadres to follow party rules. "You bestow me the prerogative that only the chairperson can determine the presidential candidate from the PDI-P," she said.
