Political Parties Scramble to Form Coalition
The Gerindra Party and the National Awakening Party (PKB) have finally formed a Greater Indonesia Awakening coalition, which will compete in the 2024 elections. On June 18, Gerindra chair Prabowo Subianto and PKB general chair Muhaimin Iskandar agreed to join forces. PKB deputy chairperson Jazilul Fawaid revealed that the coalition would support the Prabowo-Muhaimin pairing in the presidential election.
Jazilul also said they planned to invite the Democratic Party and the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) to join. "We will also invite other parties to build a strong coalition," he said Sunday. Jazilul claimed that the official declaration of the coalition would take place soon. "We are looking for a good day, God willing, we will immediately step on the gas and announce to the public," he said.
