Here Is How Stamp Duty May Affect Digital Transactions

The Directorate General of Taxation will collect a Rp 10,000 stamp duty from digital platform customers, including those of e-commerces, on a transaction worth Rp 5 million or more. The directorate general spokesperson Neilmaldrin Noor revealed that it was already regulated in Law No. 10/2020 on stamp duty. "The risk has been in our consideration when launching this provision," Neilmadrin said on Tuesday.
According to Neilmadrin, the government is currently in talks with the Indonesian e-Commerces Association (idEA) about its implementation, especially on how the terms and conditions will be updated. Bima Laga, the idEA general chairman, said there were things that would need to be reviewed by the government before rolling out the regulation. "We don't really mind, but there are parts that need to be reviewed," he said.
