Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Pandjaitan said Elon Musk's investment plan through Tesla Inc still requires time and process and will not happen soon. Until now, he asserted there had been no official agreement reached between Indonesia and the US-based electric car manufacturer.

"Investment decision from a company is not easy as pie; it takes a long process and time. Moreover, the investment value is huge. So, we have to be patient so that later we can bring great benefits to the community and the country as we all expect," Luhut said on Tuesday.

What is clear is that the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investments has established excellent communication over the last two years, both with Elon Musk and Tesla. According to him, Tesla's team moved quickly. Earlier this month, they had come to Indonesia to visit several nickel processing plants. "We also responded no less quickly to show our seriousness and support. But what must be noted, this is still in talks, so once again, everyone must be patient," he said.
