Business Opportunity for e-Wallet Operators in MLFF
The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), through the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT), plans to implement a contactless cashless toll transaction system or Multi-Lane Free-Flow (MLFF) on toll roads. MLFF implementation will be carried out in stages on several toll roads in the country starting in late 2022.
The Head of BPJT, Danang Parikesit, said that the MLFF-based toll transaction system infrastructure is currently being carried out in terms of software and hardware, which is now being developed by the MLFF System Executive Business Entity (BUP).
"With MLFF transaction technology, which will be implemented on toll roads in Indonesia, later drivers will no longer need to stop at toll gates, let alone queue for tapping electronic money cards when making payments," Danang said Monday.
ICT Institute Executive Director Heru Sutadi said toll services depend on the stability of the phone signal when drivers pass the toll gate. "Transportation services play a crucial role in supporting people's daily activities," he said. One of the e-wallet organizers, OVO, is ready to work on the MLFF payment system. "OVO is ready to provide convenience for users, as proven by current cooperation with several transportation partners," Harumi Supit, OVO's Head of Corporate Communication, said.
