Intensive Lobbies for the New National Capital
Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Pandjaitan claimed that the National Capital (IKN) Nusantara development project attracts the interest of many foreign investors. During his speech at the 60th Anniversary of the Indonesian Christian Youth Movement (GAMKI) in Balikpapan on May 21, Luhut denied that IKN development has limited funding. "I have met Mohammed Bin Salman, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, who said he would invest heavily in IKN," he said.
Luhut also stated that the United Arab Emirates (UAE), through the Indonesia Investment Authority (INA) also preparing a US$20 billion investment. He said IKN Nusantara would not lose to the modern city development of NEOM in Saudi Arabia, Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, and Shenzhen in China. "IKN will be a world-class city for all. Many parties have respected our concept of building a new capital city," he said.
