As CPO Export Ban Lifted, Govt Applies Compensation Policy

The Indonesian government decided to impose several new rules after lifting the export ban on crude palm oil (CPO). One of them is the re-imposition of the domestic market obligation (DMO). Coordinating Economic Minister Airlangga Hartarto revealed the government intended to collect 10 million tons of cooking oil through it, 2 million tons of which would act as available reserves.
Every cooking oil producer must comply with the DMO provisions set by the government. The Trade Ministry will specify the DMO requirement that each cooking oil producer must fulfill. The government will also impose sanctions on those violating the rules. DMO supervision will be carried out through the Digital Technology and Information System for Bulk Cooking Oil (SIMIRAH), overseen by the Industry Ministry. "The distribution will use a purchase system based on identity cards (KTP) to be right on target," Airlangga said on Friday.
