Indosat-BDx's Joint Venture Heats Up Data Center Competition
PT Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison Tbk (ISAT) formed a partnership with PT Aplikanusa Lintasarta, PT Starone Mitra Telekomunikasi (SMT), and Big Data Exchange (BDx) from Hong Kong to build a data center. The four companies signed a conditional sale and purchase agreement (CSPA) and a joint venture agreement. The value of the joint venture company is estimated at US$300 million after the CSPA completion. Through this strategic agreement, BDx will collaborate with Indosat and Lintasarta to build a new database.
BDx Chief Executive Officer Braham Singh said the data center would serve to fulfill the needs of cloud computing infrastructure in Indonesia. "This joint venture adds Asia-Pacific leading market to the BDx database portfolio that will continue to grow," Singh said on Thursday.
Indosat Corporate Secretary Billy Nikolas Simanjuntak said this cooperation would be complemented by a series of commercial and operational agreements. This agreement allows both parties to collaborate in developing Starone as a leading data center company in Indonesia.
