President Jokowi and Elon Musk to Talk about Nickel Supply for Tesla

President Joko Widodo will travel to the United States for a summit of ASEAN leaders in Washington this week. However, during the visit, he is also scheduled to meet Tesla, Inc CEO Elon Musk, following Indonesia's plan to further develop its nickel industry and establish an electric vehicle (EV) battery ecosystem. “We are currently setting up the schedule, and its location,” Coordinating Investment and Maritime Affairs Minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said in a press conference on Monday, as quoted by Reuters.

Luhut also revealed that Tesla's representatives were currently in Indonesia and planned to visit the nickel production hub of Morawali on Sulawesi island. “They are very satisfied with the data they have received so far,” he claimed.
