New Players to Compete in Indonesia Electric Motorcycle Market
Several brand holder agents (APM) are ready to compete in Indonesia's electric motorcycle market. PT Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing (YIMM), for example, will present the electric motorcycle Yamaha E01 in Indonesia. The Japanese manufacturer will test 20 units of Yamaha E01 in the second half for at least one year.
Meanwhile, PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM) has already introduced its two-wheeled electric vehicle, the Honda PCX Electric, in 2019. However, the public still cannot purchase it anywhere. Currently, AHM is studying various aspects related to electric vehicles and their development, ranging from performance and safety to public needs. "We are trying to provide products and the infrastructure so that consumers feel safe and comfortable using electric motorcycles," said AHM spokesperson Ahmad Muhibbuddin told Kontan.co.id, Monday.
PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales (SIS) is also ready to support the Indonesian government's program to develop an electric vehicle ecosystem. "Currently, the headquarter (in Japan) is preparing it. However, the biggest challenges are market conditions and supporting infrastructure, which is currently still being developed by the government," said Teuku Agha, 2W Sales & Marketing Department Head of SIS.
