Indonesia-UK Defense Cooperation: How It Works

Indonesia and the UK agreed on the Indonesia-UK Partnership Roadmap 2022-2024 at a bilateral meeting between Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi and Britain's Foreign Secretary Liz Truss in London on April 19. Retno revealed that the roadmap would pose as a guideline for strengthening bilateral partnerships between the two countries.
It contains strategic cooperation programs in various sectors, from the economy, politics, defense, environment, energy transition, and health. Moreover, several projects in the defense sector will start in the near future. Retno, on April 20, expressed her high hope on the roadmap that it would push the partnership between the two countries to a higher level despite global geo-political dynamics and challenges, "based on the principles of mutual respect, mutual benefit, international norms and law, as well as shared values between Indonesia-UK."
