Indonesian Govt Subsidizes Pertalite Gasoline

The Indonesian government has designated Pertalite or gasoline with 90 octanes in the special assignment fuel (JBKP), replacing Premium gasoline. As a result, PT Pertamina will get compensation or some kind of subsidy to produce and distribute Pertalite. State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Minister Erick Thohir said that the distribution of Pertalite as a subsidized fuel would be closely monitored. He explained that the price of Pertamax or gasoline with 92 octanes could probably go up because it did not get any subsidy from the government. "If [the price of] Pertamax goes up, I'm sorry. However, Pertalite, which is subsidized, will not," Erick Thohir said as a guest lecture in Universitas Hasanuddin on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Director General of Oil and Gas Tutuka Ariadji said that Pertalite is regulated in the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministerial Decree Number 37.K/HK.02/MEM.M/2022 issued on March 10, 2022. "Quota for Pertalite this year is 23.05 million kiloliters," he said.
