How Will Indonesia Deal with Digital Talent Scarcity
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said that Indonesia's digital economy market is the largest in ASEAN, valuing US$70 billion and controlling around 40 percent of the ASEAN market share. This value is expected to keep increasing up to US$124 billion through 2025.
According to Airlangga, the key to success in reaching the Golden Indonesia period in 2045 lies in the younger generation's human resources (HR), who are creative, adaptive, innovative, digitally capable, and have an entrepreneurial spirit. "To achieve this potential, by 2030, Indonesia will need 9 million digital talents," Airlangga said in a written statement on Saturday.
He estimates that digital skills development will contribute Rp 4.434 trillion to the Indonesian economy in 2030, equivalent to 16 percent of Indonesia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
