Rising Avtur Price, An Aviation Industry Nightmare

The crude price hikes lifted aircraft fuel or avtur prices. PT Pertamina data revealed that avtur at Soekarno Hatta Airport on March 1-14 for international flights reached 76.90 cents per liter and Rp 11,967.55 per liter for a domestic flight, increased from 75.40 cents and Rp 11,746.95 per liter on February 15-28.
Acting Corporate Secretary of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Irto Ginting, said the avtur price is reviewed every two weeks. According to him, the price increase took into account several factors, including crude oil prices and the exchange rate. "The price determination is in line with government regulations," he said. Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Indonesian Travel Companies Association (ASITA), Nunung Rusmiati, noted that if the price of avtur rises, the airline tickets price will increase. "This will affect passengers' interest," Nunung said on Sunday.
