Kalla Group to Build More Hydropower Plants

PT Hadji Kalla or Kalla Group will focus on new and renewable energy (NRE/EBT) development. After finishing up the 515-megawatt Poso hydropower plant (PLTA) and the 90-megawatt Malea hydropower plant, it plans to build five new hydropower plants with a total capacity of 1,230 MW. These plants will be located in Poso Regency (Central Sulawesi), Mamuju Regency (West Sulawesi), and Merangin Regency (Jambi).

In Poso, Kalla Group will build the Poso-3 plant with a capacity of 400 MW and the 30-megawatt Poso-4. Meanwhile, in Mamuju, they will build the Tumbuan Mamuju Atas and Tumbuan Mamuju Bawah plants with a capacity of 90 MW and 360 MW, respectively. The corporate group plans to build the 350-megawatt Kerinci plant. "Three hydropower projects are under construction, namely Poso-3, Kerinci, which is 40 percent complete and will be ready in three years. The Mamuju plant is also being worked on," Jusuf Kalla, Kalla Group's founder, explained on Friday.
