Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas Suharso Monoarfa said space flight company owned by billionaire Elon Musk, SpaceX, asked the government to provide land for a high-speed aircraft launch pad in the new capital, East Kalimantan, following the visit of the Special Committee for the Bill on the State Capital (Pansus RUU IKN) of the House of Representatives (DPR).

"The Special Committee Chairman visited SpaceX in Los Angeles, United States, asking Indonesia to provide ultra-high-speed spacecraft launch pad," Suharso said on Thursday. Besides building at the new capital, SpaceX has asked Biak Island in Papua Province to be the runway for the spacecraft. He claims that a flight from Indonesia to America only takes less than two hours with this runway.
