PIS Aims for Strategic Cooperation with Japanese Companies
PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) is eyeing a strategic partnership with a Japanese company as a series of the unlock value program to develop the company's business as Pertamina's Integrated Marine and Logistics Subholding. PIS cooperates with the Indonesian Embassy to Japan to seek strategic partners, expecting it to assist and support PIS in diplomacy and negotiations with potential investors in Japan.
"The unlock value is not only to increase the company's revenue, but also to diversify its business, including diversification towards being environmentally friendly, green business, and green shipping," PIS CEO Erry Widiastono said on Wednesday.
Indonesian Ambassador to Japan Heri Ahmadi said Japan-Indonesia cooperation opportunity is still wide open, such as in the energy transition sector, energy logistics, and petrochemicals. According to him, Japan needs huge ammonia supplies, while Indonesia is one of the biggest suppliers. "We are ready to help PIS to bridge [cooperate] with business players in Japan," he said.
