Latest Scenario of Civil Servants Relocation to New Capital
The Indonesian government has started the development scenario for relocating thousands of State Civil Servants to the new capital city in East Kalimantan from 2022 to 2024. The document from the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) obtained by D-Insights mentions instructions to the official secretary-general or main secretaries of ministries and state institutions to prepare plans for relocating organizational units and civil servants.
"The data will be submitted to the Civil Servant Working Group no later than January 11, 2022," citing the excerpt of the document published on January 6, 2022. The document states that 7,687 civil servants will move to the new capital city in Penajam Passer Utara, East Kalimantan. They serve in 36 institutions consisting of 31 civil institutions, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Headquarters and three subordinate units, and the Police Headquarters.
