Here Are Erick Thohir's Strategy to Overhaul PLN's Business

The Indonesian government will overhaul the business structure of PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN). Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Erick Thohir said he would divide PLN into holding and two sub-holdings after seeing that it required a thorough overhaul. "PLN's performance will continue to meet obstacles if there is no structural overhaul," Erick said on Wednesday.

According to him, PLN currently has mounting debts of around Rp 500 trillion. PLN must also continue to increase investment to develop new and renewable energy in line with Indonesia's commitment to achieving net-zero emissions. "There must be debt restructuring and capital expenditure efficiency. Now, what we have to do is reshuffle and improve PLN's total structure," he said.
