PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE) and PT Medco Power Indonesia (MPI) are collaborating to develop a geothermal power plant (PLTP) project in Indonesia as both companies signed the head of agreement (HoA) for a joint study on December 31, 2021. "The signing of this joint study is a follow-up of the collaboration kick of meeting that both parties have carried out to optimize a 495 MW geothermal project development," PGE President Director Ahmad Yuniarto said in a statement.

MPI President Director Eka Satria said both companies would start a joint study on geothermal development projects over the next two years. "This step is part of the transformation of Medco Energi Internasional [MPU's parent company] to shift into electrical and renewable energy projects, especially in the geothermal sector, in line with Indonesia's position as the owner of the largest geothermal reserves in the world," he said.
