Otto Toto Sugiri has just entered the Forbes list of the 50 richest people in Indonesia in 2021. According to Forbes' calculations as of December 2021, Toto is the 19th wealthiest person with assets of US$2.5 billion or equivalent to Rp 35.75 trillion (US$1 = Rp 14,300).

Toto stays among Indonesia's richest persons on the back of the data center business in Indonesia. Otto is touted as the pioneer behind the booming data center business until he is dubbed Indonesia's "Bill Gates." Before the pandemic, only a few people knew about Toto. The data center business has thrived amid the pandemic. Local conglomerates joined the data center business bandwagon in the past year, starting from the Sinarmas Group, Salim Group, and Lippo Group.

Foreign technology giants are also eyeing the Indonesian data center market. Recently, Amazon Web Services Inc (AWS) officially built a data center in Indonesia by opening a region in Jakarta in mid-December. Microsoft and Alibaba had entered the Indonesian market as well.
