PAG to Expand Storage Units for Asia’s LNG Hub Status
PT Perta Arun Gas (PAG) expects the Arun Refinery to become Asia's Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Hub in 2030. Therefore, the company, affiliated with PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk, has been preparing several strategies to support it. PAG Corporate Secretary Hatim Ilwan revealed that in the short term, the company would focus on revitalizing storage tanks previously owned by PT Arun NGL. "In parallel, we are conducting a capacity development study by adding 2-3 LNG storage units in the next five years," he said on Tuesday.
Hatim revealed that only four of five LNG storage tanks managed by PAG were operational. The company is revitalizing one remaining tank and finalizing the tender process to find potential users. "There are already three qualified LNG companies from Europe, Asia, and the United States among players who have participated in the auction. They will be announced next year. At the same time, the EPC [engineering-procurement-construction] tender for the tank revitalization has begun," he said.
