Bangkanai 2 Plant Adds 140 MW to Kalimantan Power Supply

Summary

PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) ensures to complete the Bangkanai Stage 2 Engine and Gas Power Plant (PLTMG) construction on time. Didik Mardiyanto, General Manager of PLN's West Kalimantan Development Main Unit, said that more than 90 percent of the Rp 1.9 trillion project work had been completed. "The second stage of Bangkanai PLTMG construction is still ongoing despite the pandemic, and access to the location is quite difficult during the current rainy season," he said on Thursday.

Bangkanai Stage 2 PLTMG has a capacity of 140 megawatts (MW). The Synchronous Feasibility Recommendation (RLS) was published in mid-October for all PLTMG machines. The generating system is currently entering the testing phase to ensure that all machines operate properly and optimally. "We will do tests, including on the generator's performance and reliability run to ensure the engine reliability," Didik said.
