Mount Semeru in Lumajang, East Java, erupted on December 4, 2021, at 15.32 WIB. Head of the Center for Volcanology for Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) Andiani said the eruption began with a lava incident at 01.30 PM, followed by hot clouds injuring many residents. Based on the latest data compiled by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) on Sunday, the number of victims who died due to the eruption of Mount Semeru was 14 people. The injured victims reached 56 people. 

Several flights were also delayed. AirNav Indonesia Corporate Secretary Rosedi said he had already issued several warnings or Ash Notam (Ashtam) related to the eruption. AirNav anticipated, among others, by coordinating with Abdul Rachman Saleh and Juanda Airports to conduct a Paper Test, and all aircraft bound for Denpasar-Lombok-Kupang or vice versa are directed through the North of SBR flight route or the northern part of Surabaya.
