Key Challenge of Healthtech Services: Medical Data Security
Technology-based health services (health-tech) may grow rapidly after the COVID-19 pandemic, but health practitioners, regulators, and health-tech startups need to seriously address the data security issue. This was stated by the Secretary-General of the Indonesian Hospital Association (Persi), Lia Gardenia, in a webinar titled "The Future of the Digital Economy in Indonesia," which was organized by Katadata and the University of Technology Sidney on Wednesday.
She explained that the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the health industry would require large amounts of medical data, including patients' personal data. Therefore, additional regulations on data security are needed since the development of health technology still relies on Health Ministerial Regulation (Permenkes) No. 20/2019 on the Implementation of Telemedicine Services between Health Service Facilities.
