The Health Ministry is waiting for a global recommendation on the third or booster dose of COVID-19 vaccination, which will be considered as the new standard for the COVID-19 vaccination program. The ministry's COVID-19 vaccination spokesperson Siti Nadia Tarmizi assured that the government would assess its urgency thoroughly. "The booster vaccination for those who are not in vulnerable groups is still waiting for the global recommendation," Nadia said on Tuesday.

Currently, booster shots are only for health workers, the elderly, and immunocompromised people aged at least 18 years old. She revealed that there were 11 types of COVID-19 vaccines allowed by the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) to be used as vaccine boosters. The list does not include the Merah Putih vaccines, which will soon enter the production stage.
