PLN to Offer Renewables Projects in 2022

Summary

PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) will offer 21 renewable power plant projects for tenders in 2022. The Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Minister, Arifin Tasrif, confirmed on Monday that these renewable projects were part of the 2021-2030 Electricity Procurement Plan (RUPTL), "with a total capacity of nearly 1.2 gigawatts for the 2021/2022 procurement period."

PLN Director of Mega Projects and Renewable Energy, Wiluyo Kusdwiharto, revealed that the plan to hold the tenders in 2022 was due to the fact that it took time to study and explore the 2021-2030 RUPTL, which only came out last October. "We need about three months to deploy the RUPTL into renewables activities so that starting in the first half of next year, these renewables projects will begin," he elaborated.
