Fleet Command, Navy’s Latest Strategy to Protect Indonesian Waters
The Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) plans to establish Fleet Command in the near future. It will pose as the parent institution of all Navy's combat units. Naval Chief of Staff Admiral Yudo Margono revealed that it would be based on Presidential Regulation No. 66/2019 on the Organizational Structure of the Indonesia National Armed Force (TNI). "There is already a Decree of the TNI Commander on the Fleet Command," Yudo said on Tuesday.
Yudo explained that its leader or the Commander of the Fleet Command would be a vice admiral or a high-ranking, three-star Navy officer, which will be assisted by a chief of staff, an inspector, and the head of the expert staff. "For the time being, it will be located in Jakarta, at the former TNI Defense Area I Joint Command Headquarters," he continued.
