Indonesia to Rely on GLPO Technology to Boost Oil and Gas Production

Summary

Indonesia's upstream oil and gas regulator SKK Migas plans to implement Gas Lift Pack Off (GLPO) technology in Pertamina and several oil and gas contractors' (KKKS) work areas to increase the production levels. The technology was successfully tested on the Marmo-1 Well operated by Petrochina Jabung Ltd (PCJL). PCJL managed to reactivate the heavy-oil well, which had been out of production since early 2019.

SKK Migas Deputy Operations Julius Wiratno believed that the GLPO technology could maximize the well's potential, optimizing the oil recovery factor from a well or field. "The initiative to accelerate the optimization is the No-Cure No-Pay mechanism and implementation. Several GLPO initiatives and implementations are also being carried out in several Pertamina work areas as well as several other oil and gas contractor's blocks," Julius explained to Katadata.co.id on Friday.
