Here's How Govt Integrates Tourism and Logistics in Labuan Bajo
President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo inaugurated the Wae Kelambu Multipurpose Terminal at Labuan Bajo Port in West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), on Thursday. He explained that the development of the first logistics port in NTT was part of the government's attempt to revamp the Labuan Bajo tourist area.
Previously, Labuan Bajo Port served both passenger and cargo vessels, but it is now operating exclusively as a passenger terminal and Wae Kelambu handles the freight transport. "We want the old Labuan Bajo Port to be clean because it is a tourist area," he said. The construction of the Wae Kelambu Multipurpose Terminal took place in August 2020 - April 2021, 12 kilometers away from the Labuan Bajo Port. It will serve various cargo activities, from containers, general cargo, and liquid bulk shipments.
