Observing Govt's Focus on the Digital Economy Roadmap
Trade Minister Muhammad Lutfi claimed that the government is also focused on facilitating investment and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the digital economy sector. This means, not only large companies or even unicorns having more than US$1 billion in valuations will be served.
"The government will not only facilitate the growth of unicorns but will also ensure investment and innovations in smaller companies," Lutfi said during the Gambir Trade Talk, Tuesday.
The government sees huge potentials in the digital economy. E-commerce will contribute roughly Rp 1.908 trillion or 33 percent of these potentials. Meanwhile, the logistics sector will contribute around Rp 763 trillion or 13 percent. The rest is estimated to come from online travel, which reaches Rp 575 trillion or ten percent, and the company's services, around Rp 529 trillion or nine percent. With such projections for digital economic growth, Indonesia's gross domestic product (GDP) will increase 1.5 times to Rp 24,000 trillion in 2030 from currently Rp 15,400 trillion.
