Hotel Moratorium is on The Rise

Several regions imposed a moratorium on hotel construction permits. Managing Director for Labuan Bajo Flores Authority Executive Agency (BPOLBF) Shana Fatina said the permit for four and five-star hotels construction in Labuan Bajo will be suspended from October 2022 to 2030 to support the G20 Summit, which will take place in Labuan Bajo. "Especially for four-star hotels and above," Shana said on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Yogyakarta City government has extended the moratorium on building new hotels running since 2018. Through Mayor Regulation No. 150/2020 on Hotel Development Control, the government will not issue a Building Permit (IMB) to construct new hotels through December 31, 2021. "Moratorium can be extended. But now, who wants to build a hotel? Even if it is not extended, people will definitely hold back," Yogyakarta Mayor Haryadi Suyuti said in a statement.
