Semiconductor Chip Crisis Overshadows Automotive Sector
Semiconductor shortages that occurred since early this year have not seen any sign of calm, thus threatening the national automotive industry. On the CNBC Indonesia television discussion program, Astra International Daihatsu Chief Executive Supranoto said that the semiconductor scarcity would be a problem for Indonesian automotive companies.
He said that car manufacturers are trying their best to minimize the impact of the semiconductor shortage. In the early days of the crisis, Indonesian automotive manufacturers were still able to overcome the shortages. However, difficulties began in October 2021. "October, November, and December present a huge challenge for manufacturers to obtain these semiconductors," Supranoto said on Saturday.
