How Will Govt Utilize TNI Reserve Components?

President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo appointed 3,103 people as members of the Reserve Component of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (Komcad TNI) at Special Forces Command's Education and Training Center Bandung, Thursday (10/7). According to him, Komcad TNI is intended only for defense purposes. " The reserve components are only for the interests of defense and the state," he said.

Komcad TNI is only deployed if the country is under military emergency or in a state of war. The head of state will mobilize the components with the approval of the House of Representatives (DPR). "Command and control are with the TNI Commander. This means that there are no Komcad members who carry out independent activities," he said. Jokowi emphasized that the components' active period only applies to the training and mobilization period. Apart from that, Komcad members will return to their respective professions. "But they must always be alert if the state calls them," he said.
