Summary

Data and artificial intelligence (AI) company, ADA, stated that Indonesia is one of the fastest-recovering countries from the COVID-19 pandemic compared to others in Southeast Asia. These findings are based on the ADA dashboard as of September 2021.

"Indonesia and Cambodia have almost 90 percent recovered from their lowest point in August 2021 due to the Delta variant," ADA Chief Executive Officer Srinivas Gattamneni said in an official statement on Tuesday (10/5).

Meanwhile, Bangladesh has returned to the pre-pandemic level. The ADA estimates that Indonesia and Cambodia are next after Bangladesh to reach their pre-pandemic position. Gattamneni said that mobility on Java recovered faster than other islands. Meanwhile, visitors to food and beverage outlets jumped 110 percent from pre-the pandemic level. Mall visitors are also claimed to have fully recovered.

The use of fitness apps jumped 140 percent. However, business and productivity apps usage declined by 60 percent from pre-COVID-19 levels. The acceleration of the COVID-19 vaccination program drove the recovery of the business sector in Indonesia.
