PT Pertamina Hulu Energi West Madura Offshore (PHE WMO) spuds in PHE 2-3 exploration well in the waters of Madura, East Java, on Monday (9/27). Pertamina's Eastern Indonesia Upstream Subholding President Director Awang Lazuardi said the exploration drilling would last for 120 days, targeting a depth of 8,245 feet true vertical depth subsea (TVDSS). The drilling uses 2000 HP Raniworo Rig, with the fracture basement layer & carbonate balance as primary and Rancak-2 and Rancak-3 as secondary objectives.

Awang said the PHE 2-3 exploration well is the third exploration well drilling in Eastern Indonesia in 2021. "The Eastern Indonesia Region is quite aggressive in conducting exploration drilling. Previously, the North Wolai-001 well was drilled, and the discovery was made at the West Penyu-001 well," he said on Wednesday (9/29). In the future, the Eastern Indonesia Region will add drilling activities for the Kasuari Emas 001 exploration well, which is currently in the preparation stage.
