Golkar's Fate and Races Over Azis Syamsudin's Seat
The Golkar Party prepares several candidates to substitute the arrested graft-suspect Azis Syamsuddin as deputy chairman of the House of Representatives (DPR). Golkar's chairman of the Legal Advocacy and Human Rights Agency Supriansa said his party would not leave the House Deputy Speaker vacant. "The Golkar Party will soon submit a name to the House to substitute Azis Syamsuddin's position," Supriansa said on Friday (9/24).
Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Honorary Court (MKD) Habiburokhman said he is monitoring the development of this case. The MKD can respond if its members do not fulfill their obligations, such as not being present at activities as members of parliament. Regarding Azis' resignation, Habiburokhman said it is under the Golkar Party domain.
