IMIP to Go Green with 150-MW Solar Plant Project

Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP), an industrial area in Central Sulawesi, is going green by building a solar power plant (PLTS) with a capacity of 150 megawatts (MW) to become less reliant on coal-fired power plants (PLTU). IMIP CEO, Alexander Barus, explained that the plan came from shareholders taking environmental issues seriously.
IMIP's current primary energy source is still PLTU. "Shareholders suggested that (PLTU) must be gradually replaced," he continued on Tuesday (9/14). For this reason, IMIP plans to build a solar power plant in a 150-hectare area. But, he added, the company still has some unresolved land acquisition problems for the project.
