Thai Furniture Retailer Challenges IKEA and Ace Hardware

Index Living Mall Plc (ILM), a leading producer of furniture, home furnishings, and decorative items in Thailand, will venture into the Indonesian furniture market in the fourth quarter of this year. ILM President Director Kridchanok Patamasatayasonthi revealed that the company would partner with giant retailer PT Mitra Adiperkasa Tbk (MAPI) to open two retail furniture and home solutions outlets at Sogo Department Stores in Jakarta by the end of this year.
The first one will sit on a 1,524-square-meter area and expectedly open in October 2021 at Sogo Senayan Plaza. Then the second outlet, on a 1,365-square-meter area, will open in November at Sogo Kota Kasablanka. ILM outlets will consist of 70 percent of furniture and 30 percent of household furnishings and decorative items.
Indonesia is Index Living Mall’s eighth expansion destination. ILM has already penetrated Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Maldives, and Pakistan markets. "This cooperation is an important step for us in expanding the furniture and home accessories throughout ASEAN markets," Kridchanok explained, as reported by the Bangkok Post.
