Mu Coronavirus Variant: How Dangerous Is It?

The World Health Organization (WHO) warns about the emergence of a new coronavirus variant called the Mu variant. It lists Mu, also known as B.1.621, in the variant of interest (VOI) category due to its resistance to existing vaccines. WHO also calls for further studies to understand it better.

Meanwhile, the COVID-19 Task Force’s spokesperson, Wiku Adisasmito, assured the government had been anticipating the spread of the Mu variant by keep using the same protocols. For example, everyone arriving from abroad must undergo eight-day quarantine before carrying out any activity in the country. "The current condition tends to be normal and gradual openings have already started. The government is also trying to monitor people’s mobility to and from other countries with great caution," Wiku assured on Thursday (9/2).
