Erika Retnowati to be First Female BPH Migas Head

Summary

The House of Representatives (DPR) approved Erika Retnowati as the head of the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) for 2021-2025. She will also be the first woman to assume the role. The chairman of House of Representatives’ Commission VII, overseeing energy affairs,  Sugeng Suparwoto, revealed that after thoroughly assessing Erika’s competence through a fit and proper test, the commission members reached the consensus and approved her.

"Based on Law No. 22/2021, there will be nine members of the 2021-2025 BPH Migas Committee. Erika Retnowati will be the chairman and, concurrently, a member," Sugeng explained at the DPR Plenary Meeting on Thursday (7/15).

Sugeng explained that there were 18 people who took the fit and proper test, but the commission chose only nine: Erika Retnowati, Abdul Halim, Basuki Trikora Putra, Eman Salman Arief, Harya Adityawarman, Iwan Prasetya Adhi, Saleh Abdurrahman, Wahyudi Anas, and Yapit Sapta Putra.
