INA Eyes Renewable Energy as Potential Investment Sector
The Indonesia Investment Authority (INA) targets new and renewable energy (NRE) as a potential sector for investment purposes. "INA's investment in this sector still considers the commercial aspect. Investments must provide optimal returns and measurable risks, and investment decisions are made with partner investors," INA spokesperson Masyita Crystallin told Katadata.co.id, Monday (5/10).
However, Masyita did not mention the amount of funding prepared by INA for the NRE sector. Indonesia undoubtedly has vast potentials for new and renewable energy, yet its utilization is still fairly low, reaching only around 2.5 percent in the energy mix. "An additional 5,000 megawatt [MW] of new renewable energy capacity is needed to achieve the 23 percent NRE target in the national energy mix by 2025," said Masyita, who is also in charge of the Finance Minister's Special Staff.
