Summary

The Indonesian government, PT Adaro Energy Tbk, and Fortescue Future Industries Pty Ltd (FFI) from Australia have issued a joint statement of intent on April 22, 2021. The Coordinating Maritime Affairs and Investment Ministry, the Public Works and Housing Ministry, the Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ministry, the Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Ministry, the Environment and Forestry Ministry, and the Investment Ministry represented the Indonesian government in the agreement.

"We believe the support of strong private companies, such as Adaro as the largest coal exporter in Indonesia and Fortescue as the largest renewable energy investor, is crucial in achieving Indonesia’s net-zero emission target more quickly," the Coordinating Maritime Affairs and Investments Ministry’s spokesperson, Jodi Mahardi, stated on Monday (5/3).
